Kathy and
Mo Say, “Stop Columbia’s Painful Menstrual Tests on
Animals … Period!”
Queens
of comedy Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney—whose off-Broadway
show Afterbirth: Kathy and Mo’s Greatest Hits is
getting raves—are seeing red over Columbia University’s
menstrual experiments on rhesus macaque monkeys.
The funny feminists pose above the tagline “Stop Columbia’s
Painful Menstrual Tests on Animals … Period!” in a
new PETA ad exposing the school’s painful, lethal animal
tests.
At Columbia, experimenter Michel Ferin surgically attaches metal
pipes to the skulls of rhesus macaque monkeys to induce stress
so that the effects of stress on the menstrual cycle can be studied.
Ferin has been getting federal money to conduct these useless
experiments for 16 years while pre- and postnatal care for underprivileged
women remains inadequate.
