So What Are the NIH/OLAW and the USDA Doing About It?
In his June 30, 2003, letter to the veterinarian, Harvey Colten of Columbia writes, "The University has reported the results of its investigation of your allegations to the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare of the Public Health Service ('OLAW') and to the U.S. Department of Agriculture ('USDA').
Both agencies have acknowledged receipt of the report and expressed satisfaction with the investigative process and with the corrective actions imposed as a result." (emphasis ours)
In other words, our federal government seems to be doing nothing about Columbia's heartless treatment of the animals in its laboratories or about the sloppy, so-called "science" for which the American public is being bilked. It seems as if neither agency objects to having its intelligence insulted.
